About Phonetic Alphabet Chart

Phonetic Alphabet Chart is a free reference site about spelling things out clearly. We publish charts, guides and simple tools for the NATO phonetic alphabet, radio and military lingo, spelling alphabets from other languages, and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

What You Will Find Here

  • A complete NATO phonetic alphabet chart with pronunciation and Morse code.
  • A guide for every letter from Alfa to Zulu.
  • Free tools: a phonetic alphabet translator, a quiz and a printable chart.
  • Plain-English guides to radio prowords, military time, Zulu time and Morse code.
  • An IPA chart section for students of phonetics and pronunciation.

How We Write Our Guides

We base our charts on published standards, such as the ICAO radiotelephony spelling alphabet and the International Phonetic Association’s chart. When sources disagree, or a detail is uncertain, we say so instead of guessing. We review pages and correct them when we find an error.

Who This Site Is For

Our readers include students, call center teams, pilots in training, radio amateurs, dispatchers, teachers and language learners. Everything is written for beginners first, with extra detail for people who need it.
